Globally covering a - priori regional gravity covariance models

چکیده
Gravity anomaly data generated using Wenzel’s GPM98A model complete to degree 1800, from which OSU91A has been subtracted, have been used to estimate covariance functions for a set of globally covering equal-area blocks of size 22.5 × 22.5 at Equator, having a 2.5 overlap. For each block an analytic covariance function model was determined. The models are based on 4 parameters: the depth to the Bjerhammar sphere (determines correlation), the free-air gravity anomaly variance, a scale factor of the OSU91A error degree-variances and a maximal summation index, N , of the error degree-variances. The depth of Bjerhammar-sphere varies from −134km to nearly zero, N varies from 360 to 40, the scale factor from 0.03 to 38.0 and the gravity variance from 1081 to 24(10μms−2)2. The parameters are interpreted in terms of the quality of the data used to construct OSU91A and GPM98A and general conditions such as the occurrence of mountain chains. The variation of the parameters show that it is necessary to use regional covariance models in order to obtain a realistic signal to noise ratio in global applications.

The Sanctions and Geographical Shift in Trading Partners: Evidence from Iran and Russia through a Gravity Model
T his paper is an attempt investigating the relationship between sanctions implications and geographical shift in trading partners. To this end, we analyze separately foreign trade patterns of two countries namely Iran and Russia - which are under imposed sanctions experience - with two United Nations Regional Groups (The Asia-Pacific and the Western European groups) using a gravity...
متن کاملA method for 2-dimensional inversion of gravity data
Applying 2D algorithms for inverting the potential field data is more useful and efficient than their 3D counterparts, whenever the geologic situation permits. This is because the computation time is less and modeling the subsurface is easier. In this paper we present a 2D inversion algorithm for interpreting gravity data by employing a set of constraints including minimum distance, smoothness,...
متن کاملFrequency-dependent data weighting in global gravity field modeling from satellite data contaminated by non-stationary noise
Satellite data that are used to model the global gravity field of the Earth are typically corrupted by correlated noise, which can be related to a frequency dependence of the data accuracy. We show an opportunity to take such noise into account by using a proper noise covariance matrix in the estimation procedure. If the dependence of noise on frequency is not known a priori, it can be estimate...
متن کاملRegional high-resolution spatiotemporal gravity modeling from GRACE data using spherical wavelets
[1] We determine a regional spatiotemporal gravity field over northern South America including the Amazon region using GRACE inter-satellite range-rate measurements by application of a wavelet-based multiresolution technique. A major advantage of this method is that we are able to represent the Amazon hydrological signals in form of time series of detail signals with level-dependent temporal re...
متن کاملRandom manifolds and quantum gravity
The novelty is the summation over geometry, which is considered to be dynamical. When the action depends only on the intrinsic geometry, the geometrical degrees of freedom are the topology and the metric of the manifolds. The summation over topologies being beyond control, one sums over all inequivalent metrics at fixed topology. Euclidean quantum gravity belongs to statistical mechannics. Its ...
